Speaker Jumabekov on $700m withdrawal: People should ask why Atambayev hasn't done anything

AKIPRESS.COM - Some $700 million were withdrawn from Kyrgyzstan mainly from 2011 to 2017, Parliament Speaker Dastan Jumabekov said on a local TV channel. "Who was the President at that time? Let people say that. The rally was held yesterday, they should say: when Atambayev was the President, why hasn't he done anything?" Jumabekov said.
The Speaker said two investigative reports of Azattyk contradict to each other.
"When Azattyk talked to Saimaiti [the report published in November], he said the money came from other countries, we transferred money to other countries," he said.
Jumabekov said there were no evidences or people who would say the money was taken from them. "In the latest report Saimaiti was cited as saying $560 was received from each truck [smuggling goods in gray schemes of withdrawal of money]. Is there anyone who would confirm that he or she gave such money?" the Speaker interrogated.
Azattyk published earlier the investigative report claiming Chinese businessman Aierken Saimaiti withdrew $700 million from Kyrgyzstan. On November 10 he was shot to death in Istanbul.
