AKIPRESS.COM - MP Marlen Mamataliev suggested to oblige university graduates to plant a tree to get a diploma.
The lawmaker suggested to the Ministry of Education and Science to follow the example of the Philippines where the law was passed in a move to increase the number of trees.
This is a good initiative, Education Minister Kanybek Isakov said.
"Then each citizen will plant a tree in Kyrgyzstan," MP Mamataliev said.
Students in the Philippines must plant at least 10 trees in order to graduate from elementary school, high school, and college. The initiative came from a bill passed by the Philippine Congress in May 2019.
