'There is no any cult of personality in Kazakhstan' – Tokayev

AKIPRESS.COM - President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev ahead of his state visit to Germany told about the development of Kazakhstan in the interview with Deutsche Welle, Zakon.kz reports.
The initiative on renaming of the Astana into Nur-Sultan belongs to Tokayev.
"I came to the airport, which was named by the First President, there is a monument of Nursultan Nazarbayev at the main square, December 1 is the Day of the First President of Kazakhstan. I think, this is a cult of a personality. Do you agree with this?" a journalist asked in the interview.
Tokayev said that Nazarbayev is a big historical figure.
"No, I don't agree. Do you know, when Sholokhov (Mikhail Sholokhov) was answering to the question "Was there any cult of a personality?", he said "Well, there was". Nursultan Abishevich Nazarbayev is a big historical figure," Tokayev replied.
