AKIPRESS.COM - In his interview with the Deutsche Welle, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev commented on the rumors about a clannish system in the country. "When people talk about Kazakhstan, they speak about a clannish ruling. How much is it true, or if yes, then how it works?" the journalist asked.
"I hear this for the first time. What is it? The clan system. We have no clans," Tokayev replied.
The journalist continued that there are allegedly zhuzhs - senior, middle and junior - and that there is a clanism in ruling the state.
"The clanism exists in many countries. Donald Trump holds a meeting in the White House and you see his son-in-law behind him. We do not have a clanism, but the zhuzhs are the historical heritage. There are no any separations in zhuzhs while distribution of power in Kazakhstan. Kazakhstan is a modern state," Tokayev said.
