AKIPRESS.COM - MP Aida Ismailova (Republika - Ata-Jurt) at the parliament session on December 5 asked the government to pay attention to regulation, using and burial of radioactive sources in Kyrgyzstan.
According to her, two sources of a high radiation were lost in a company in Maily-Suu town and 17 sources were lost in the companies of Osh.
She noted that Kyrgyzstan is a country with nuclear potential.
"There are many sources of radioactive emissions in our country that are used in various spheres, in particular, in medicine and industry. I think it's very important issue and the issue of providing radiation security in our country is not yet completely studied," Ismailova noted.
According to her, the National Oncology Center in Bishkek has a Bhabhatron radiation therapy machine, which works on the basis of a cobalt. The cobalt might be used as a mass destruction weapon in case of a wrong and mistaken use, she noted.
"The object should be used in a strict mode and guarded in a special way," she said.
