AKIPRESS.COM - Turkmenistan establishes diplomatic relations with the states of the African continent, Turkmen media report.
President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov focused on the country's relations with foreign states at an expanded session of Cabinet of Ministers on the eve of International Day of Neutrality on December 6.
"We have been working hard in the recent years to establish diplomatic relations with the states of the African continent," said President Berdimuhamedov and noted that the country will continue this activity and increase the number of mutual visits with the African countries.
President of Turkmenistan noted that Turkmenistan began to cooperate with African state and that it is establishing relations with the African Union and with the countries of North and West Africa. Turkmen President has also highlighted the great prospects of this partnership.
According to Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan, the republic has currently established diplomatic relations with 146 countries of the world. There are 45 diplomatic representatives of foreign states and international organizations accredited in Turkmenistan.
The 12th extraordinary summit of the African Union, held in July this year in Niger, brought historical news to the inhabitants of this region: The African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA) entered its operational phase.
