AKIPRESS.COM - Kyrgyzstan "freezing" its participation in the activities of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea (IFAS) in 2015 and its bodies and Kazakhstan will create a joint working group on this issue, Tengrinews.kz reports.
This was discussed on December 16 during the visit of Minister of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resourses of Kazakhstan Magzum Mirzagaliyev to Bishkek.
"We and colleagues from Kyrgyzstan agreed on creation of the working group and we will be working on the existing water issues on an ongoing, daily basis. In terms of the IFAS, we decided to create bilateral working group different from the existing one to regularly discuss the issue of Naryn-Syrdarya basin and providing water to southern Kazakhstan," Mirzagaliyev said upon completion of his trip.
During the talks, Mirzagaliyev also raised the issue on schedules of delivering of water in the Shu River basin by the Kyrgyz side.
According to him, the sides should introduce the system of exchanging hydrological data online for this purpose.
The sides also touched the issues of hydroeconomic situation in the Syrdarya River basin.
A trip of the Minister to Kyrgyzstan was aimed at resolution of a number of issues in water sphere that were raised by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev during the meeting with the Kyrgyz President Sooronbai Jeenbekov in Bishkek.
