Jeenbekov says nude performance at Feminnale was humiliation for women

AKIPRESS.COM - President Sooronbai Jeenbekov during the press conference commented on a nude performance at the 1st Feminnale of Contemporary Art international exhibition at the Gapar Aitiev Museum of Fine Arts in Bishkek. Scandal around nude performance of woman at the museum as part of the Feminnale led to firing of the museum director.
Jeenbekov said that the social opinion divided into different groups.
"Woman is a mother, sister, daughter and wife. Our ancestors cared and respected women. If we look at our women in the past, they wore elechek (female headwear) and their behavior was in line with our traditions and Islamic principles. The performance where a woman showed up naked at the museum is a humiliation, I think, of women," the President said.
