AKIPRESS.COM - Twenty two people injured in post-election protests of October 5-6 still receive outpatient treatment and medical consultations, the Kyrgyz government's press service reported. Under the agreement reached with Turkey, a group of surgeons will arrive in the nearest time to perform prosthetic eye surgeries for 8 injured people. A Turkish surgeon will also perform a complex eye surgery on one of patients in January.
Orthopedic prosthesis was purchased for one of the injured in late December 2020.
Assistance was provided to a 51-year-old woman, whose jaw was broken during October 5-6 unrest. The woman is receiving treatment in the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department of the National Hospital in Bishkek.
The government set up an interdepartmental commission to consider requests for assistance from those injured in the post-election protests. The commission is led by Deputy Health Minister Madamin Karataev. The commission will consider designation of degree of disabilities of injured citizens.
