AKIPRESS.COM - President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev said he will not allow the opposition, that is formed and comes from abroad, to get into Uzbekistan. He said this at the meeting with students of Muhammad Al Khorezmi School on December 27. "The opposition is discussed on the web. What benefit it brought? As President, I am not against the opposition, but it is necessary to create the environment that it will emerge here, so these would be people who know problems, who would care about the problems, who would eat bread and drink water here," the President said.
This has become the first statement made by Mirziyoyev about the political opposition after he assumed office.
The OSCE observers said earlier despite the parliamentary elections were held relatively freely in Uzbekistan, the changes in the system could not fill in the gap of opposition.
Senate Vice Speaker Sadyk Safaev said earlier there is no sense in artificially created opposition party. The main thing is that the parties should be real, he said.
