Mongolian Tourism Ministry seeks investments for upgrade of infrastructure of rural airports

AKIPRESS.COM - The Ministry of Environment and Tourism of Mongolia is working to attract investments for development of infrastructure and maintenance of rural airports. The Ministry plans six rural airports to gain international status. The size of needed investments, role of rural airports in regional development and advantages for air carriers were studied. The proposals will be submitted to the World Bank, Japan International Cooperation Agency and other international donor agencies.
Launch of international flights to rural areas is expected to boost tourism and to enhance competition at the market via coming of low-cost airlines.
