Turkmenistan launches anti-American propaganda due to film on toppling dictator

AKIPRESS.COM - The authorities of Lebap region of Turkmenistan are now carrying out the anti-American campaign, Chronicles of Turkmenistan reports referring to Radio "Azatlyk".
Deputy governors overseeing culture, the NSM staff and representatives of public prosecutor's office are holding meetings with senior graders and public sector staff at schools and community centres. The meeting participants were informed that the USA is an enemy of Turkmenistan which is trying to destroy the country.
The reason behind arranging these events is the film "6 Underground" released in December 2019 on the streaming service Netflix. Based on the plot of the film, a billionaire hires a team to remove a dictator named Rovach from the office in the fictional state of Turgistan with Turkmenistan serving as its alleged prototype. Turkmen state symbols and signs in the Turkmen language are used in some scenes. Moreover, Rovach is one of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov's favorite horses.
According to the Radio's correspondents, the film seriously scared Turkmen officials. All video rental shops have been closed down because of the film in Turkmenabat city.
