242 schools remain unsafe in Kyrgyzstan

AKIPRESS.COM - There are more than 300 unfinished schools and 242 schools buildings are in emergency condition, Education Ministry's public procurement department chief Bakyt Kadyrkulov said.
The unfinished school buildings is a critical issue for Kyrgyzstan, he said.
Construction of some school started in the Soviet era, but the buildings still remain unfinished, he added.
"4-5 years ago the plan was set to finish construction of such unbuilt schools and then proceed to construction of other schools. Unfortunately, every ear for various reasons, due to earthquakes, avalanches or other disasters, schools get to state of emergency and then included into the priority list of schools for construction. Unfinished schools are left behind," Kadirkulov said.
