Education Improvement Programme boosts quality of education in Central Asia

AKIPRESS.COM - The University of Central Asia's (UCA) Education Improvement Programme (EIP) conducted face-to-face professional development workshops for 171 teachers of English, math, chemistry and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in Dushanbe (Tajikistan), Naryn (Kyrgyzstan), and Taldykorgan (Kazakhstan) in January, UCA said.
The workshops focused on enhancing teachers' knowledge of specific subject content, as well as creating innovative activities, strategies, and skills to develop students' curricula and competencies. The workshops also provided a platform for teachers to collaborate and share learning.
Participants improved their lesson planning skills, designed SMART learning outcomes, received constructive feedback from their peers and facilitators, and also covered the use of ICT to facilitate teaching and learning. In Tajikistan, teachers of ICT developed their knowledge and skills to teach the programming language of C++.
In Kyrgyzstan, an additional two-day face-to-face workshop was organised by EIP for 21 school directors and deputy directors. The workshop focused on teaching participants how to develop, monitor and evaluate a School Development Plan.
