AKIPRESS.COM - Uzbekistan and the European Union will step up the talks on the new comprehensive bilateral agreement this year, the Foreign Ministry of Uzbekistan said.
The agreement on enhanced partnership and cooperation will replace the agreement on partnership and cooperation of 1999.
Foreign Minister Kamilov said earlier the European Union and Uzbekistan plan to sign the agreement in 2020. This may happen during the possible visit of President Mirziyoev to Brussels.
The talks on the new agreement started in February 2019. The fifth round of talks should be held in Tashkent.
Foreign Minister Kamilov met with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell as part of his working visit to Berlin.
The sides agreed to step up efforts of the working groups for preparation of the enhanced partnership and cooperation agreement for signing.
