UN in Turkmenistan commemorates Holocaust victims

AKIPRESS.COM - The United Nations in Turkmenistan jointly with UNRCCA and Embassy of Israel held the Holocaust Remembrance event in commemoration of the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz.
A photo exhibition "Rays of light" was also organized for representatives of the diplomatic corps, the Jewish community, national partners and UN staff, the UN press service in Turkmenistan reports.
The representatives from the diplomatic community, the Jewish community, national partners and UN staff explored the photo exhibition "Spots of light" to get more understanding of the meaning of "Auschwitz".
The speakers noted that it should happen "Never again" and encouraged to never forget, stand firm every day and everywhere against antisemitism, bigotry and hatred of all kinds, stand united, for human rights and dignity for all.
"Promoting social cohesion and human rights, as well as combating discrimination and hatred, are among the main goals of The United Nations, thanks to our efforts to implement the 2030 agenda for sustainable development" said Elena Panova, Permanent coordinator of the United Nations in Turkmenistan.
