AKIPRESS.COM - Prime Minister of Russia Mikhail Mishustin, who assumed office recently, will arrive in Kazakhstan on January 31 to participate in the session of the Eurasian intergovernmental council, news.ru reported.
The trip means that the new head of the Cabinet of Ministers will actively engage in resolution of not only internal economic issues of Russia, but also will try to 'reboot relations' with neighbors.
The participants of the council are expected to discuss transformation to the calculation in national currencies of the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and further integration within the union.
Russian President Vladimir Putin in December praised the integration processes in the EAEU and this will probably become one of the key areas in the work of the new PM of Russia.
Some day before his trip to Kazakhstan, Mishustin held a meeting on priority tasks within the framework of the Eurasian economic integration.
At a moment, the EAEU members are Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. Uzbekistan might join the union as an observer soon.
"The trip to Kazakhstan is aimed at demostration of the foreign policy priorities of Moscow. Kazakhstan is a strategic ally and a main economic partner of Russia," according to Director of the international projects of the Institute for Strategic Studies (RISS) of Russia Yuri Solozobov said.
