AKIPRESS.COM - Re-opening of a border crossing point on the Kyrgyz-Uzbek border was suggested today in Parliament of Kyrgyzstan. Aksy district of Kyrgyzstan borders with 4 districts of Uzbekistan, MP Almazbek Ergeshov (Kyrgyzstan) said in Parliament today.
The length of the borderline makes 140 km, he said.
"There are areas where the wire was stretched, some sections remain without any demarcation. The cattle cross into Uzbekistan while grazing. People have to travel to Madaniyat border crossing point to cross into Uzbekistan and drive their cattle back," the MP said.
There is a border crossing point near Kerben market which was closed many years ago, the MP said.
"30,000 people live in Kerben. The town has a big market, where cattle is sold. There is a border crossing point 2-3 km away, but it is closed. There is a market on the territory of Uzbekistan as well in that area," the MP said and suggested to reopen the border crossing point.
