Kazakhstan bans export of medical face masks

AKIPRESS.COM - Kazakhstan imposed ban on export of medical face masks, as some domestic producers started sending them to China instead of selling on the internal market, spokesman of the Ministry of Health Dias Akhmetsharip said today at the briefing on coronavirus situation, Vlast.kz reported.
"We would like to note the unethical behavior of producers and distributors of masks. They were selling reserves to China. In this regard, the government imposed ban on export," he said.
In addition to the prohibition of export, the government is considering the issue of purchasing masks abroad from foreign producers in connection with inability of some domestic producers to satisfy the growing demand of the population, Akhmetsharip noted.
