Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan urges Kordai district citizens not to flee to Kyrgyzstan

We will visit the border crossing point soon," Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Berdibek Saparbaev said at the meeting with Sortobe village residents. The governmental commission for liquidation of the consequences of the disorders in Kordai district arrived in Jambyl region yesterday. The Deputy Prime Minister visited all villages hit by the disorders, where he studied the situation on the ground and met with the villagers, BaigeNews.kz reported.
Berdibek Saparbaev visited the Kordai district hospital, where 137 people sought medical assistance. 100 people were examined and were discharged. Six were evacuated to Almaty by h helicopters.
37 people are in hospitals. 9 are in the intensive care.
After visit to the hospital, the Deputy Prime Minister met police and servicemen, who are patrolling Kordai, Masanchi, Aukhatty, Sortobe villages now.
At the meeting with the head of the governmental commission villagers said they fear the disorders may reoccur again. The Deputy Prime Minister assured them the situation is under control.
"All guilty will be punished. Medical and other necessary assistance is provided to the injured. The main thing now is to ensure stability in the region," Saparbaev said.
The villages look desolate now - villagers try to stay at home.
At the briefing in Nur-Sultan on February 8 it was reported that on February 7 at 7.00 pm around 70 aggressive men gathered on the outskirts of the village in Kordai district and the massive fight occurred then. Eight people were killed and more than 40 were injured in the brawl. According to preliminary reports, over 30 houses, 15 stores, 23 vehicles were destroyed. 47 were detained and released some time later. Two shotguns were seized.
