Tokayev orders to sack officials after Kordai clashes

AKIPRESS.COM - President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev ordered the governor of Jambyl region to sack deputy governor of the region for social matters Slushash Kurmanbekov and head of Kordai district Bolatbek Baitole for serious flaws in their jobs.
The move came following deadly clashes in the villages of Kazakhstan where the predominantly Dungan community lives.
The mass brawl occurred on February 7 in Masanchi village, Kordai district, Jambyl region.
The mass disorders then spread to Aukhatty and Bolanbatyr villages. 10 people were killed, dozens of others were injured, dozens of cars and houses were burned down.
Some residents of these villages, mostly children and women, fled to Kyrgyzstan and some of the injured Kazakh citizens sought medical aid in Kyrgyzstan.
