SECO, EU provide grants for public transport upgrade, improvement of domestic waste management in Tajikistan

AKIPRESS.COM - The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development will administer grant projects in Kulob and Khujand.
The respective agreement was signed by Tajik Finance Minister Faiziddin Kahhorzoda and Head of EBRD Office in Tajikistan Aiten Rustamova, Avesta reports.
The agreements were signed for $7 million, including $5 million grant from the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO).
The funds will be spent for development of public transport in Khuhjand and improvement of its services. The project will support purchase of modern buses.
The remaining $2 million from the European Union will be used for domestic solid waste management in Kulob.
The main goal of the project is introduction of the modern technologies in domestic solid waste management, new methods of waste collection and removal, improvement of sanitation and ecological situation in Kulob.
