State Border Service of Kyrgyzstan says Batken was never Tajik land

AKIPRESS.COM - "Batken was never and will never be a Tajik land. This is an original Kyrgyz land, where Kyrgyz people have been living since the old days," Chief of the General Staff - the first Deputy Chairman of the State Registration Service of Kyrgyzstan colonel Abdikarim Alimbayev said while commenting on the statements of the Tajik major general of police Abdullo Navjuvonov. Navjuvonov's statement that Batken region never belonged to Kyrgyz people appeared on local media and social media, which sparked an immediate concern of the Kyrgyz side.
Alimbayev while commenting on the statements of the major general told AKIpress that he knows Abdullo Navjuvonov personally.
"We met for resolution of border problems last time on September 17, 2019. I think that Navjuvonov was deceived by someone, who absolutely does not know the history of his nation and the world history," Alimbayev said.
However, it is unforgivable for the general representing the state body to make such a statement and provocating people by doing so, he noted.
Alimbayev said that such kinds of provocations might trigger new incidents and bloodsheds on the border today, when the governments of the two countries are trying to resolve the border issues.
The Foreign Ministry of Kyrgyzstan on February 14 invited Ambassador of Tajikistan Nazirmad Alizod.
