AKIPRESS.COM - The election participants in Kyrgyzstan use various methods to obtain votes, including buying votes and lobbying, said the deputy head of CEC Abdyjapar Bekmatov on air of Birinchi Radio on Feb 13. According to him, the prevention of these cases during the elections was included in the Code on offenses in 2019.
"Previously, these accusations were private, but now they are included in the category of private-public. Prior to this, only those who bought or sold votes were brought to responsibility, but now the public associations, CEC members and others, who witnessed the vote buying may address to the law enforcement agencies," he said.
Bekmatov added that the political party will be brought to justice if the members and representatives of party will be involved in vote buying.
The local council elections are scheduled for April 12 and will be held in 25 villages and 5 towns.
