MP critical of Economy Ministry, says double taxation avoidance deal with Czech Republic is unnecessary

AKIPRESS.COM - Parliament committee for international affairs, defense and security considered ratification of the agreement with the Czech Republic on avoidance of double taxation and tax evasion signed on 9 April 2019 in Bishkek in the second reading.
There are 27 Kyrgyz-Czech companies in Kyrgyzstan but only 8 of them are functional. These 8 companies contributed 19.7 million soms in taxes to the Kyrgyz budget, said Deputy Economy Minister Dastan Kadyrov presenting the document to the MPs.
Kyrgyzstan imports different equipment and glassware from the Czech Republic. Kyrgyzstan exported $150,000 worth of goods and products to the Czech Republic, mainly onions and seeds, Kadyrov said.
Some of the MPs were critical of this agreement. One of them, Bahadyr Sulaimanov, doubted the necessity of such a deal as the number of Kyrgyz businessmen in the Czech Republic is very few. He accused the Ministry of Economy of dealing with unnecessary stuff instead of attracting real investments.
