AKIPRESS.COM - The social and political situation in At-Bashi district of the Naryn region is calm, said the regional department of Internal Affairs.
On Feb 17, another rally against the construction of a logistic center by Chinese investors was held in the district.
Policemen ensure public order. To date, no violations have been recorded.
The locals held rallies against the construction of logistic center for several times. On Feb 15, the locals adopted resolution during the peaceful rally and demanded to reply on resolution within 14 days.
Locals are concerned by the reports that "200 hectares of land allocated for the free economic zone were allegedly given for forever to China." Locals asked if the reports were true. The director of the Naryn free economic zone Gulzat Abdyrasulova said the agreement on construction of the logistics center was concluded not between the countries, but between private investors. If an investor works with violations, the Kyrgyz side has every right to stop cooperation, she said.
Groundbreaking ceremony of the At-Bashi Logistics Center in the Naryn region was held in December 2019. The project is estimated at $275 million. After completion, its area will be 400 hectares. The government expects that the center will become one of the most modern and largest logistics centers in the Central Asian region and will create at least 10,000 jobs.
