Growth of price for meat explained in Kazakhstan

AKIPRESS.COM - The Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan commented on recent reports on a sharp rise of prices for meat and meat products in the country, Liter.kz reported.
According to the statistics committee of the Ministry of National Economy, consumer prices for all types of goods in Jan 2020 grew by 0.7% in average compared to Dec 2019.
Prices for bread increased by 0.5%, meat and meat products - by 0.5% , sea food - by 0.7%, dairy products - 0.9%, oil and fat - 0.4%, fruits and vegetable - 3.3%, confectionery - 0.3%, soft drinks - 0.5%.
"The growth of price for meat and meat products is lower than the average growth on all products. Therefore, it is not correct to say that the prices for meat have jumped a lot". Reports on media that the prices for meat and meat products in Jan 2020 have sharply risen by 13%, for beef - by 16.5%, lamb - by 16.2% and horse meat - by 14.5% are also false. The growth of prices here was calculated not for a month, but for the last year from Jan 2019 to Jan 2020," the Ministry explained.
The statement says one of the reasons for price growth is a mass export of cattle from country last year.
Another reason is a rise of price for grain.
According to Energyprom.kz, inflation in Kazakhstan in Jan 2020 was 5.6% with the growth of price for food products by 9.2%.
