25 children die from ARVI and influenza in Kyrgyzstan annually

AKIPRESS.COM - A number of acute respiratory viral infection and influenza cases varies in Kyrgyzstan from 220,000 to 300,000, said the Health Ministry on Feb 22. 65% of ARVI patients children under 14 years old. "The number of ARVI patients totaled 60% of the total incidence of influenza and ARVI within a year," the statement said.
Some 20 to 25 cases of child mortality as a result of ARVI complication registered annually. "The key reason is a late appeal to hospital and poor development of child's immune system," the Health Ministry said.
