AKIPRESS.COM - Turkestan region of Kazakhstan will fully shift to natural gas by 2026, Liter.kz reported.
1.1 million residents of the region or 56.7% of the total population of the region were provided with natural gas as a result of 2019. Construction of 25 automated gas distribution stations is expected to complete by 2020.
According to head of the energy department of the regional administration Igor Alekseyev, 423 settlements or 1.2 million residents will be provided with natural gas this year.
Today 50% of the population of Turkestan city are provided with gas, he noted.
The drinking water issue has been resolved at 80%, he said.
Kazakhstan continues talks with Russia on transiting the Power of Siberia gas pipeline through the territory of Kazakhstan. The country will be able to gasify two regions - East Kazakhstan and Pavlodar regions - as part of this initiative.
