AKIPRESS.COM - Prices for Chinese goods rose by 5% on large markets of Tashkent, centralasia.org reports. Local businessmen say delivery of goods slowed down and prices increased after Kyrgyzstan closed a trade route with China.
Traders in the neighboring Kyrgyzstan, who raised prices for Chinese goods by 5-10%, are concerned that their reserves are running out in the warehouses.
One of the businessmen in Uzbekistan said that Uzbeks have to work with the illegal suppliers due to a suspension of direct delivery of goods from China.
About 60% of goods on retail market Urikzor transited through Kyrgyzstana and Kazakhstan come from China.
Prices for construction materials in Tashkent went up by 25-30%.
Kyrgyzstan closed the border with China on January 24 after coronavirus outbreak in China. This resulted in freezing of the trade route from China to Uzbekistan.
Uzbekistan suspended flights to China from February 1 and returned its citizens from the Chinese cities home.
