AKIPRESS.COM - The first Vice Prime Minister - Minister of Finance of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov said modernization of the checkpoint on Kazakh-Kyrgyz border will last 4 years instead of the planned 2 years, Liter.kz reported.
During the Parliament session, Smailov said that Kyrgyzstan committed to provide outfitting and material and technical equipment of the checkpoint with the third countries within 3 years, but this period was not enough for completion of works.
The Kyrgyz side initiated extension of deadlines and asked additional terms for completion of works on modernization of the checkpoint, the Vice PM said.
The Prime Ministers of the two countries at the session of the Higher Eurasian Economic Council signed a protocol on amendments from 24 months to 48 months, which was until August 12, 2019. however, the Kyrgyz side could not finish works by this time.
In this regard, the heads of governments signed a protocol on amendments from 48 months to 72 months, or until August 12, 2021, according to Smailov.
Mazhilis passed the bill on ratification of the protocol on amendments to the protocol on conditions and terms on application of the Kyrgyz Republic a treatment on Eurasian Economic Union dated May 29, 2014.
Smailov said that ratification of the protocol will not entail any consequences for the Kazakh side.
