Large scale flooding expected in Kazakhstan in mid March

AKIPRESS.COM - Severe flooding is expected in Kazakhstan in the upcoming spring, the Channel One Eurasia local Kazakh television station reported.
The water level in some regions of the country surpassed the long-term norms.
609 villages and towns of Kazakhstan might be flooded, Kazgidromet said.

There are more than 150,000 buildings in dangerous areas of the region. Most of them are in Almaty, East Kazakhstan, West Kazakhstan and Kyzylorda regions, Minister of Interior Turgumbayev noted.
More than 34 billion tenge are budgeted for emergency situations. Therefore, Prime Minister Askar Mamin ordered governors to improve the situation and prevent flooding rather than just to prepare for elimination of the consequences.
