Lawyer claims that Sapar Isakov received food poisoning; GKNB denies

AKIPRESS.COM - Sapar Isakov received food poisoning and couldn't attend the trial on modernization of the Bishkek CHPP, said his lawyer Zamir Jooshev on Feb 26. "He has fatigue. My client coundn't attend the trial for this reason. Doctors said that he shouldn't participate in the trial," Jooshev said.
The National Security Committee reported that the condition of Sapar Isakov is satisfactory.
"He had a fatigue in the morning, however now his condition is stable. He is under the medical observation," said the National Security Committee.
Former Prime Minister Sapar Isakov involved in the case was a no-show at the trial because he decided to show up. He denied to attend the trial without interrogation of expert Ebgenia Hafizova and Gosstroy employee Asanova.
3 criminal probes were launched following the breakdown at the Bishkek CHPP of January 26, 2018. One of the cases looks into corruption during the selection of a contractor for the modernization of the power plant. Investigators claim that the suspects lobbied the interests of Chinese company TBEA, which offered the biggest bid - $386 million.
On December 6, 2020 Isakov was sentenced to 15 years in prison for corruption in modernization of the Bishkek CHPP on the grant allocated by Chinese company TBEA.
