AKIPRESS.COM - The Pervomay district administration of Bishkek seeks to ban rallies in central part of the capital from March 4 to July 1, 2020.
It says various citizens and organizations are notifying about organization of peaceful rallies on central streets of the city near the buildings of state and municipal institutions and squares. "It disrupts the normal functioning of the city life. Practices show that leaders and organizers of such gatherings with participation of a big number of people fail to control the process, as a result of which mass riots leading to traffic problems occur in the city," the document says.
Another reason for prohibition of protest campaigns is a coronavirus situation, the administration said.
The citizens are recommended to avoid mass gatherings and limit crowded events.
On March 5, the Pervomay district administration appealed to the court with the request to recognize its decision as lawful and justified.
