AKIPRESS.COM - No price hikes for vital food products are seen in Kyrgyzstan and there is no ground for panic-buying of goods, the republican team for coronavirus prevention said during its meeting at the government on March 13.
Shelves are not empty, prices are not growing, grocery stores work in normal mode. The situation with food supply in the regions is calm, prices are not growing there either, the statement said.
Kyrgyzstan has enough food reserves, the statement added.
Anti-monopoly agency controls the prices.
Nasiridin Shamshiev, head of the Policy Coordination Department of the Ministry of Economy, said the prices for flour increased because of the increased wheat prices in Kazakhstan. "As for sugar prices, this is a seasonal factor. There are no price hikes in the markets. If prices will increase for 10-12 foodstuffs, we will impose a 90-day price limit," he said.
