11 doctors catch Covid-19 in Uzbekistan

AKIPRESS.COM - Eleven doctors of the Virology Research Institute caught COVID-19 in Tashkent, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev said during a videoconference on the tasks to prevent coronavirus infection from further spread on March 26.
"No matter how developed medicine is, no matter how much money the state is providing, but if people do not follow recommendations and break quarantine rules, all our measures, work of hundreds of thousands of people fighting against pandemic will be useless," President Mirziyoyev said.
The President slammed region governors, who did not take actions to provide important explanations to population yet, did not use local television channels, newspapers and magazines to raise public awareness about coronavirus infection and quarantine rules.
The President said region governors are responsible for epidemiological well-being in their regions.
"For instance, a woman living in Yazyavan district of Ferghana region returned from Umrah in Saudi Arabia and hosted the feast for 120 people the next day after return, this way grossly violating quarantine rules. In the result she and her 4 family members tested positive for coronavirus. It is unknown yet how many caught the coronavirus," the President said hinting at poor outreach work of the local authorities.
