Turkmenistan cancels sports tournaments and shuts down gyms

AKIPRESS.COM - All sports events and trainings of athletes have been cancelled and sports clubs and fitness studios have been shut down in Ashgabat since March 24, Chronicles of Turkmenistan reports.
The measures were undertaken with the view of preventing the spread of coronavirus.
The Football Federation of Turkmenistan announced on its website that the matches of Turkmenistan's Football Championship for adult and youth teams will be rescheduled for later dates.
A few days ago, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammedov held a session with the heads of the provinces and ordered to thoroughly prepare for large-scale celebrations of the World Health Day and the Day of the Turkmen Horse. Pursuant to the state-run media outlets, the issues pertaining to the threat of coronavirus or introducing new prevention measures were on the agenda of the meeting.
