AKIPRESS.COM - Uzbekistan dispatched two batches of humanitarian aid to Russia, the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Moscow told Gazeta.uz.
The first batch was delivered to Sheremetyevo on Saturday, the second arrived on April 20. Uzbekistan plans to hand over 5 million medical masks and medical gauze in total.
"Medical supplies will be delivered primarily to those on the frontline of coronavirus fight," Tass cited Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk as saying.
The Russian Deputy Prime Minister thanked the people and the government of Uzbekistan for aid.
"We know that people of Uzbekistan are affected by coronavirus infection. There are confirmed and lethal cases in the country. However, Uzbekistan made the decision to share the most necessary supplies with Russia and this way demonstrated mutual support," Alexey Overchuk said.
Uzbekistan earlier dispatched humanitarian aid to China, Iran, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Belarus and Hungary. The aid mainly included personal protective equipment and food products.
