AKIPRESS.COM - The working meeting of General Secretaries of the National Olympic Committees fo the Central Asian Zone of the Asian Olympic Council was held in Nur-Sultan.
Relaunch of the Central Asian Olympic Games was in focus of discussions, the National Olympic Committee of Kazakhstan said.
The meeting was attended by Kazakh National Olympic Committee Vice President Adnrei Krukov, representatives of the National Olympic Committees of Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan and Iran.
The General Secretaries of the National Olympic Games discussed restoration of the Central Olympic Games since 2021. These Games will be useful for athletes and will strengthen cross-border cooperation, they said.
The countries will discuss frequency and disciplines of the Games. It was suggested to include traditional sport games in addition to Olympic disciplines. The final decision on the games will be made at the next general assembly of the Central Asian countries.
The Central Asian games used to be held every 2 years before 2005 among Central Asian athletes. Almaty hosted Central Asian games in 1997.
