AKIPRESS.COM - The zoo in Karakol received assistance for $5,000, Turmush reported.
Forage, sugar and other supplies were purchased for animals, zoo workers said.
"We feed animals depending upon their diet. For instance, 3 bears eat 20 kg of forage and sugar a day. We purchased 500 kg of sugar for 79,000 soms. Besides, the mills supply forage for animals," they said.
Turmush reported earlier the zoo in Karakol was closed for quarantine.
The zoo is home to more than 150 animals, many of them are endangered, Mairambek Subanov, zoo worker, said.
"Three workers take care of animals during the quarantine. We are running short of food and vitamins for animals. This is the only zoo in Kyrgyzstan and we ask to support it," he said.
Some animals need rehabilitation, Saltanat Seitova, Bugu-Ene Public Foundation President, told AKIpress.
"Sale of tickets was a big help for us. A low ticket price allowed to collect funds for maintenance of the zoo and rehabilitation center. Since the zoo is closed now for visitors, we do not have incomes," Saltana Seitova said earlier.
