AKIPRESS.COM - The Legislative Chamber of the Parliament of Uzbekistan today approved the government's suggestion for Uzbekistan's participation in the Eurasian Economic Union as an observer.
The lawmakers found Uzbekistan's participation in the Eurasian Economic Union as observer state "reasonable."
32 lawmakers supported the move, 14 abstained.
The Senate should consider the suggestion now.
In March 2020, the government of Uzbekistan endorsed the suggestion on cooperation with the Eurasian Economic Union as an observer state and submitted the suggestion to the Parliament for consideration. Such decision was made after analysis of 16 major economic sectors, customs tariffs, foreign trade policy, labor migration, sanitary and phytosanitary control regulations.
The Eurasian Economic Union includes Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan. Moldova has an observer status.
