AKIPRESS.COM - The young man from Kyrgyzstan living in Moscow now has got a job in a hospital in central part of Moscow to survive amid coronavirus pandemic. He is aiding the doctors at hospital treating coronavirus patients, but he has not told his parents about this job. The young man has asked not to name him so that his parents and relatives here in Kyrgyzstan are not worried about him.
Decided not to tell parents anything...
My close relatives and parents do not know that I have got such job. I come from Chui region, have higher education. I had to go to Russia as migrant worker. Since start of quarantine, we - around 10 young men from Kyrgyzstan - were confined to our apartment. All ran out of money then and this is why we accepted any job offers. We had to work despite coronavirus situation. But I also like to be part of socially important work. For this reason I accepted the job without fears and began to provide care to coronavirus patients to aid medical workers.
At least 8 people die every day...
Around 30 young men from Kyrgyzstan got job at the Moscow hospital. I am their leader. Neither of us has medical education. We came to work here since there are lots of patients. A half of local doctors quitted their job. We agreed to work for every 24 hours assisting the doctors who do not fear to treat coronavirus patients. Migrant workers like us are hired now. Every day at least 8 people die in the hospital.
Thought such disease did not exist before...
Before I started to work at the hospital, people surrounding me said such disease does not exist and this is just politics. I have not seen the people infected with COVID-19 as I stayed at home jobless. I also thought that coronavirus does not exist. Now when I work at the hospital treating coronavirus patients, I see everything myself. I have come here as there were no other options. I had to pay rent and buy food. When I was offered this job, I was warned that we will deal with coronavirus patients. We agreed and signed the contract.
We took out the body of 34-year-old man...
The bulk of the patients are people above 60 years. Most of those who died were elderly people. If people had chronic diseases before coronavirus, they suffer a lot - they can't breathe. Almost all medical workers at the hospital caught virus and recovered. They said they had mild symptoms like flu. There was a 34-year-old man among those who died. We entered the ward to take him out. He was ill for a long time, then he contracted coronavirus and died in the end. He was the only young man I saw.
Nationalists changed their attitude...
The hospital is in the central part of Moscow. From 30 to 80 patients are brought to the hospital every day. The hospital accepts only those in critical condition. We carry them to the wards. People from Kyrgyzstan are mostly among those coming to hospitals to aid medical workers voluntarily. They help very well. I am proud of such self-sacrifice of my people in such a difficult situation. Sometimes nationalists get to the hospital. They called us ‘black' before. But when they are discharged from hospital, they thank us and apologize for their words.
Grateful to doctors in Kyrgyzstan...
The sad thing I see in Moscow is that doctors quit their job and leave. Some of doctors have a high opinion of themselves. They do not want to help people, they think about themselves primarily. Of course, not doctors are like that. There are patriots of their profession, who work the sake of health of other people. However, compared to our medical workers, conditions at hospitals here are on a very high level. Food from café is brought 3 times a day for doctors. Doctors working under contracts live in 5-star hotels. They are transported by taxis to hotels and back to hospital. Medical facilities are fully supplied with new equipment. We learned to operate some of the equipment. We do not make shots, but learnt many other things. When I see the situation here, I am so grateful to our medical workers, who work in bad conditions for a tiny salary. Even if the government increases salaries for our doctors 10 times, these salaries will not reach the level of salaries of nurses in Moscow.
Quarantine will last until June...
Do not know why but Kyrgyz people are resistant to coronavirus. I think this is because we grew up among the mountains and breathed a clean air. We work, but of course there is some fear that we may contract the virus. There are different suggestions concerning future of this infection. Additional hospitals are built in Moscow. They say the situation with COVID-19 will last long. Quarantine won't end until June for sure. They say the virus will disappear by the next year only.
Attitude of Moscow doctors to Kyrgyz aides...
The doctors in Moscow are very grateful to us for that we came to help them in such hard time. "The God heard our requests and our aides have come," they say. Some nurses say: "You have come and now I can go home to have some sleep at night, to get some rest, to see my children."
