AKIPRESS.COM - The chief sanitary inspector of West Kazakhstan region declared quarantine at Karachaganak oil and gas field until June 5, the national operative team for coronavirus fight said.
The entry to and exit from the territory is prohibited. The curfew is in effect in the camp from 7.00 pm until 7.00 am. The movement of people within the camp is not allowed.
All those arriving for their term at the field should present a medical certificate with PCR test results for COVID-19.
On May 22, Karachaganak Petroleum Operating B.V. (KPO) confirmed that a KPO employee has tested COVID-positive and been transported to the regional infectious diseases hospital for further examination and treatment.
All contacts of this individual have been identified and placed into a quarantine facility for further examination.
16 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed in West Kazakhstan region on May 23.
COVID-19 outbreaks were reported at Tengiz field in Atyrau region, at the Kazakhmys fields in Karaganda region.
386 COVID-19 cases were confirmed in West Kazakhstan region. 220 patients recovered. The most of cases were workers returning from Russia and Atyrau region of Kazakhstan.
Karachaganak is one of the biggest oil and gas fields in Kazakhstan developed by the consortium of Shell, Eni, Chevron, Lukoil and KazMunayGas.
