AKIPRESS.COM - The number of medical workers in Uzbekistan, who contracted COVID-19, exceeded 300, First Deputy Health Minister Bahodir Yusupaliev told Kun.uz.
"Since March 15, more than 300 medical workers tested positive for coronavirus infection. Most of the cases were registered at the start of the outbreak of the infection in the country, since neither medical workers nor people were prepared for that," the First Deputy Health Minister stated.
The First Deputy Health Minister commented on the situation in Navoi region, where the number of COVID-19 cases grew sharply.
"We should take into account internal migration here. But the main reason of outbreak is contact with the infected people. Navoi region was the green zone, it was coronavirus free region, but by May 23, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases reached 72 [88 cases by May 25]," the First Deputy Health Minister said.
