AKIPRESS.COM - President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting on May 25, where attraction of new air companies to the domestic civil aviation market was considered, the president's press service said.
Domestic transportation companies incurred losses in the amount of 340 billion soums ($33.5 million) due to quarantine restrictions. This figure will grow more until stabilization of the epidemiological situation.
"Several actions are taken to mitigate effects of the coronavirus pandemic and to provide support to companies. The most affected companies, Uzbekistan Airways and Uzbekistan Airports, got the deferral for repayment of $122 million loan and tax preferences for more than 60 billion soums. Interest-free loans in the amount of $50 million were provided from the Anti-Crisis Fund," the president's press service said.
To increase competition at the domestic market, attraction of new air companies was considered.
