AKIPRESS.COM - Vice Prime Minister Aida Ismailova met with representatives of UN agencies and the European Union office on the implementation of the global initiative to eradicate gender violence, said government on May 29.
Ismailova said that the initiative is aimed at gender equality and the expansion of women's rights and possibilities through targeted investments. Kyrgyzstan has been selected as one of the countries for the implementation of the global initiative, which will receive about $7.8 million over the next three years.
The National coordinating committee has been established to implement the country program, which is aimed to provide strategic leadership and supervision.
"The program work will be conducted in 6 main areas: politics and legislation, strengthening institutions, preventing violence, improving accessibility and quality of services, high-quality and reliable data, supporting the women's human rights movement and civil society," Ismailova added.
