AKIPRESS.COM - The Senate of Kazakhstan today passed the amendments and additions to the legislative acts on martial law. The bill suggests extension of powers of the President that may be exercised in peacetime.
"The main aim of the bill is improvement of martial law regulations. This is required by the need to maintain defense capacity of the state for adequate response to security challenges and threats of Kazakhstan," First Deputy Defense Minister Murat Bektanov said.
The Deputy Defense Minister said the bill contains amendments to the Labor Code and 6 laws. Particularly, the martial law regulation will be added with the presidential powers that may be exercised in peaceful time, including the order of use of martial law measures, approval of the provision on the central command of the armed forces, defense councils, organization of work of the government during martial law status.
