Around 50 patients of mental hospital in Tajikistan reportedly contract COVID-19

AKIPRESS.COM - Around 50 patients of psychiatric hospital in Sughd region are infected with coronavirus, reports Tajik service of RFE/RL. The hospital's administration does not confirm the fact of COVID-19 outbreak.
Visitors of the psychiatric clinic on June 3 claimed that some patients are infected. They provided audio records with two doctors who said that around 50 patients have COVID-19. The sources did not reveal their names.
Nodira Saidova, director of the psychiatric hospital in Sughd, said coronavirus infections among patients have not been confirmed yet.
The patients were X-rayed in Khujand's hospital. COVID-19 was diagnosed among 50 people. The hospital's administration confirmed that the patients were treated there.
Experts state that such patients' treatment is more difficult.
Tajik psychiatrist Barakatullo Niezov said that psychoactive drugs should be used in accordance with patients' mental state, e.g. either used in minimal doses or not used at all.
