AKIPRESS.COM - Kazakstan needs to build at least 800 schools to address shortage of schools, zakon.kz cited Minister of Education and Science Askhat Aymagambetov as saying.
Today there are 54 schools in breakdown state, 183 schools that work in 3 shifts. In general, there's shortage of 168,000 student places, he said.
"In view of demographic and migration processes, the situation with infrastructure in cities may become worse. Preliminary estimates say that in 2025 shortage will increase to 500,000 places. We know that, so in our development programmes we're planning to build 800 schools," he said.
He added that aside from repairing schools in breakdown state all educational institutions for children need to work in one shift.
"The quality of education and establishment of comfortable conditions are connected with this problem. We'll build 80 educational institutions this year," the Minister concluded.
