Modular laboratory for high-precision COVID-19 PCR testing launched in Nur-Sultan

AKIPRESS.COM - The first modular laboratory complex for quick and high-precision PCR COVID-19 testing starts working today in Nur-Sultan, the Ministry of Health reported. Minister of Health Yelzhan Birtanov, Nur-Sultan mayor Altay Kulginov, charity organization's founder Bulat Utemuratov, Head of Foundation's Board of Trustees Almaz Sharman opened the laboratory today.
Bolot Utemuratov Foundation gifted the laboratory to the Ministry of Health and the mayor's office. The charity organization bought laboratory modules from Chinese BGI company, which organizes medical researches and produces equipment for laboratory tests.⠀
The laboratory complex will make free tests for certain categories of population.

The laboratory has all equipment necessary for polymerase chain reaction testing. The complex consists of 42 instruments for taking, keeping, marking and analyzing of biological material. The whole process is automated.

The laboratory can make 1,000 tests a day with possibility of increase up to 5,000 tests. The test results are ready within 3 hours.
